The city of New York announced Tuesday it has awarded a $30 million contract to a consortium to develop a series of projects in Brooklyn.
The projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
The work is expected to produce nearly 1,000 construction jobs, according to the announcement.
The announcement comes after a massive earthquake struck the city’s Brooklyn borough on Monday, killing at least 17 people.
The epicenter was just over 4 miles (6.5 kilometers) from the site of the earthquake, and authorities have warned residents to be prepared.
The city of Brooklyn is home to thousands of people, and is home both to the subway and bus system.
